How DAS can help

Anyone driving the insured vehicle can call the following assistance from DAS:

Roadside assistance

As soon as they receive your call for help, one of the approved repairers will be sent to wherever your vehicle is stranded.

Home Breakdown

The mechanic will do his or her best to get your vehicle going, even if it is parked at or near your home.

Roadside Repairs

If the fault or problem can be resolved on the spot, the mechanic will repair it. There is no charge for the first hour’s labour, only for any parts used.

Recovery service

If the vehicle is immobilised after a breakdown or accident, it will be taken to the nearest DAS-approved repairer, or the home address, whichever is nearer, free of charge.

Get-you-to-your-destination service

If your vehicle cannot be repaired on the same day as the breakdown, we will offer you and your passenger’s onward transport to your destination, or, if appropriate, hotel costs of up to £50 each (maximum £250)

Accredited Operators

All the repairers DAS use to provide service to you under this policy have been vetted for their professionalism and compliance with quality standards.

Because their extensive panel of repairers are selected on their merits, DAS are not tied to any single company or organisation. This gives them greater flexibility at times of peak demand, such as bank holidays, to get help to you as quickly as possible as at other times.

No problem!

Although DAS cover is inexpensive, it is not restrictive. In addition to attending a breakdown or accident, they will help in many other ways.

Flat battery? - They will jump-start or charge the battery, as appropriate.
Puncture? Call DAS to fit your serviceable spare.
However old your vehicle, it is covered while in the UK.

The small print

A full policy wording is available on request. DAS Motor Assistance Gold covers the insured vehicle, not the driver. You cannot use this policy to call free assistance for another vehicle, but they may be able to send a mechanic if you are prepared to pay for his or her services. Cars, car-derived vans and motorcycles are eligible for DAS Motor Assistance Gold. Please ask for details of separate policies, which cover purpose built vans and other commercial vehicles. Caravans and trailers attached to the insured vehicle are covered, subject to the policy’s size restrictions. If your vehicle is immobilised, DAS will choose whether to offer appropriate onward transport within the UK (no limit on total cost) or to arrange emergency hotel accommodation. The most we will pay for hotel costs is £50 per person, up to a maximum of £250. This is not a mechanical breakdown warranty. After your vehicle is taken to DAS-approved repairer, you are responsible for any repair bills. The first hours’ labour at the roadside is free. When using SOS phones on UK motorways, tell the Police operator that your motoring organisation is DAS.
